The work deals with the representation of time through the medium of photography on the example of the extinct craft of icing. The main object of investigation is landscape photographs related to ice mining. Historical images of the ice-making process in the Czech lands are subjected to a deeper examination in my thesis in the context of theoretical texts by authors such as Roland Barthes, Walter Benjamin, Wolfgang Kemp, André Bazin and others. The theoretical part aims to answer the question whether historical images of landscape can help us experience the present and in what way. The outcome of the practical part of the thesis is an art installation on the theme of ice mining and the changing relationship between humans and the landscape.
